when a bill is to be passed

She hurled the pen
It flew past him
paper balls
among foul calls
disturbing the peace achieved
by a man asleep.
A handful absorbed in their own dance
Repeating his words, wheezing cough-
and a nervous glance
he was halfway through
when disagreement brew
his voice now in the sea of voices
last choice to face this crisis
dignified, he rose and left
another delay, a new mess
Had he spoken out today
the members not interrupting his way
maybe progress then
faster be for men n women
today's delay, tomorrow's loss
all our money gone for a toss
Throwing chairs is not child's play
strength and talent, it goes on to display
why view modified entertainment forms
when seeing them follow primitive norms
makes us laugh and makes us cry
it'll reassuringly never dry
